A Dialogue in Wood In the grand, historic halls of Palazzo Confalonieri, two distinct artistic visions have converged to redefine the language of flooring. At AUSTRIAWOOD, we believe that wood is more than a material; it is a canvas, a history, and a future waiting to be shaped.

This year at DESIGN WEEK MILAN 2026, we are proud to unveil a collaboration that bridges continents and philosophies. "Where two worlds collide," our featured exhibition presents a study in contrast and harmony. On one side, Hizel Yao, the acclaimed artist from Hangzhou, brings his "Modern Desert Eye." By infusing his rhythmic, painterly sensibility into exquisite floral inlays, Yao transforms the floor into a vibrant, blooming landscape—a testament to how fine art can inhabit a functional surface. Standing in counterpoint is the "Mountain Voice" by Salzburg-based artist Magdalena Schwaiger. A student of the esteemed Daniel Richter, Schwaiger approaches wood with the structural rigor of geometric exploration. Her designs turn parquet into a rhythmic spatial experience, grounded in the warmth of alpine craftsmanship yet elevated by a modern, architectural eye.

The centerpiece of our collection stands as a physical manifestation of this union: a table where Yao’s flowing, organic floral motifs meet the crisp, sophisticated geometry championed by Schwaiger. We invite you to experience this dialogue firsthand.
